Budget Family Meal Plan #51

We started meal planning on and off about 3 or 4 years ago but I have been making regular weekly meal plans for the last 18 months. By planning our meals, making, and sticking to, a shopping list our food shop costs have dropped from £120 a week to around £60-80 a week, which is a great saving in itself yet by also changing the day and time we shop, from a Saturday afternoon to a Friday night, we have reduced our food shop BY HALF again, and so now our shop each week comes to between £30 and £45. I highly recommend heading out to the supermarkets for the end of day yellow sticker bargains if you can, both me and Dean used to turn our nose up at the people hanging around for the reduction's trolley, but how wrong we were! I will get around to writing a post and maybe filming a video to tell you how to shop yellow sticker stuff smartly, I promise!

You can watch my meal planning process on YouTube,  we also share regular grocery hauls, meal ideas and more. Be sure to subscribe if that's your thing!

I post some of our makes, bakes and meals over on our new foodie based account over on Instagram @feedingmyfamilyforless for a week or so, I also plan on sharing some cook with me and grocery hauls on IGTV too, so please click the follow button if you are on Instagram, it would mean the world!

Any way enough of the gabble, here is this week's meal plan...

Saturday - Cheesy pasta

Our family fave, perfect for a Saturday night in front of the TV.

Sunday - Chicken and bacon puffy pie, boiled potatoes and green veg

I will make the filling in the slow cooker (football Sunday...so needs must!) and top it with some oven cooked puff pastry when I serve it.

Monday - Beef and broccoli in black bean sauce with noodles and prawn crackers

Fakeaway Chinese, is there a better way to spend the beginning of the week!

Tuesday - Tex Mex veggie chilli with rice and tortilla chips

I haven't made this for ages. I want to update a recipe on the blog so it will be a good opportunity to retake photos.

Wednesday - Slow cooker bolognese and garlic bread

Thursday - Hot dogs and cheese pizza

Thursday night = everyone round to Becky's house!

Friday - BBQ jackfruit taco shells

We haven't had taco shells for ages, or BBQ jackfruit....what better way to have them than together! Yummers!

  5. Mmm your recipes sound so good, I've never tried making beef in black bean sauce but we've enjoyed it from the Chinese Take Out, maybe I should have a go.
