Budget Family Meal Plan #48

Whether you are new to meal planning or are a seasoned expert I hope that these meal plan posts bring you some inspiration! We started meal planning on and off about 3 or 4 years ago but I have been making regular weekly meal plans for the last 18 months. By planning our meals, making, and sticking to, a shopping list our food shop costs have dropped from £120 a week to around £60-80 a week, which is a great saving in itself yet by also changing the day and time we shop, from a Saturday afternoon to a Friday night, we have reduced our food shop BY HALF again, and so now our shop each week comes to between £30 and £45. I highly recommend heading out to the supermarkets for the end of day yellow sticker bargains if you can, both me and Dean used to turn our nose up at the people hanging around for the reductions trolley, but how wrong we were! I will get around to writing a post and maybe filming a video to tell you how to shop yellow sticker stuff smartly, I promise!

Anyways enough of the gabble, here is this weeks meal plan...

Monday: Veggie Tacos #MeatFreeMonday




Yep, more tacos, and another meat free choice. If you haven't ever but garlic breaded mushrooms in your tacos...mate...you are missing out!

Tuesday: Cheesy pasta 


Kids (and Dean's) fave, we haven't had it for ages so it was about time it made a comeback!


Wednesday: Spaghetti and meatballs


My Nan gave us some tinned meatballs in tomato sauce so just to use them up I will do a super quick spaghetti and meatballs, adding in some onion and mushrooms, and maybe some garlic and herbs if the sauce needs it.


Thursday: Fish fingers, chips and beans



Kiddy fave for our busy 'everyone round' night.

Friday: Homemade pizzas



Half term week so we will celebrate the end of the week with some homemade pizzas. We will even make our own easy pizza dough.

Saturday: Fakeaway McDonalds. 


Cheese burgers or chicken burgers with fries and maybe some ice-cream milkshakes!

Sunday: Sauteed herby potatoes and bacon with sausages 



This looks like one of those meals that took loads of effort, in fact its super easy! I will share a recipe soon.

  2. Hmm sounds like a lovely week - I was just saying on another menu plan that I haven't bought fish fingers for ages. Must add them to the next shopping list ! :)
