Budget Family Meal Plan #47

Whether you are new to meal planning or are a seasoned expert I hope that these meal plan posts bring you some inspiration! We started meal planning on and off about 3 or 4 years ago but I have been making regular weekly meal plans for the last 18 months. By planning our meals, making, and sticking to, a shopping list our food shop costs have dropped from £120 a week to around £60-80 a week, which is a great saving in itself yet by also changing the day and time we shop, from a Saturday afternoon to a Friday night, we have reduced our food shop BY HALF again, and so now our shop each week comes to between £30 and £45. I highly recommend heading out to the supermarkets for the end of day yellow sticker bargains if you can, both me and Dean used to turn our nose up at the people hanging around for the reductions trolley, but how wrong we were! I will get around to writing a post and maybe filming a video to tell you how to shop yellow sticker stuff smartly, I promise!

Anyways enough of the gabble, here is this weeks meal plan...

Monday: Breakfast Quesadillas 

These looked so good I just had to add them to the meal plan! And what is better than breakfast for dinner right?

Tuesday: BBQ Jackfruit tacos #TacoTuesday

Without a doubt this is the best meat free alternative you will ever eat in your taco's! This BBQ jackfruit is so easy to make my kids can cook it, and it tastes soooo delicious, all you have too decide is whether you fill a soft bread roll, top a jacket potato, top fries or fill your taco's with it!

Wednesday: Slow cooker tomato soup (Today We Cooked - Instagram) and warm home made cheese topped loaf 

I spotted this recipe on one of my fave foodie Instagram accounts and I cant wait to make it, then I will chuck it in the slow cooker on warm so we can have an extra bowl when we get back in from a cold evening of football!

Thursday: Hulk smash pasta and garlic bread

I make this alot for the kids, the green colour from the pesto and hulk smashed brocolli  mean its a hit with the kids! Especially if I let them join in with the 'smashing' of broccoli! I will add a recipe soon I promise!

Friday: Veggie chow mein and prawn crackers 

Fridays meals are a little hit and miss, depending on whether we go to my Nan's after school or not. So i try to plan things that are simple to cook and use up letfovers/stuff that wont go off if we don't use it.

Saturday: Freezer night. 

The freezer has lots of 'lasts' so to get rid of it all I will do a freezer free for all! What do you call them?

Sunday: Bacon rolls, hash browns, eggs and beans. 

This is a fave for us on a Sunday, after a busy day at football matched with the kids, something quick is on the cards, and after the smell of bacon blowing through the breeze from the food trucks at football we have them for half the cost!

    We're having tomato soup tonight. I'm cheating though, it's coming out of a tin!

  4. OOOo you have inspired me to put a couple of these meals on my meal plan for sure the veg chow mein sounds amazing for a fakeaway friday. Your meal plans always sound so amazing
