Budget Family Meal Plan #42

If you read last weeks meal plan you will know that last week was a little different and we didn't get a chance to do our yellow sticker shop, this week was back to normal, you can watch my meal planning process on YouTube, we started meal planning on and off about 3 or 4 years ago but I have been making regularly weekly meal plans for the last 18 months by planning our meals, making, and sticking to, a shopping list our food shop costs dropped from £120 a week to around £60-80 a week, which is a great saving in itself yet by also changing the day and time we shop, from a Saturday afternoon to a Friday night, we have reduced our food shop BY HALF again, and so now our shop each week comes to between £30 and £45. I highly recommend heading out to the supermarkets for the end of day yellow sticker bargains if you can, both me and Dean used to turn our nose up at the people hanging around for the reductions trolley, but how wrong we were! I will get around to writing a post and maybe filming a video to tell you how to shop yellow sticker stuff smartly, I promise!


Last weeks meal plan went really well and despite it being my PMT fuelled week I actually managed to stick to the meal plan and we ate every tea we had planned, but lunches were a little hit and miss as plans changed and we ended up just having sandwich plates and stuff. Here is this weeks meal plan:

Saturday.
Lunch: Picnic in the garden. 



We will be out and about but will stop off home around lunchtime and have a carpet or garden picnic, before heading back out for the afternoon. 

Tea: Meatball marina and cheesy nachos



We didn't manage to have this in a past meal plan and the kiddos REALLY want it, so we will have this as a quick and easy Saturday night. 

Sunday.Lunch: Tuna and sweetcorn pasta salad


The kids are obsessed with this pre-made from Morrisons salad bar and I have been promising to make it for ages, I am supposed to be going out for Sunday dinner with my sisters so I can prep this in the morning and Dean just needs to pull it out of the fridge at lunch time and plate it up.

Tea: Rosti topped fish pie with steamed veggies.


I was looking through my blog for recipes that we loved in the past and I came across this recipe, its really easy and so so tasty! Just ignore my photos because they are AWFUL, I will definitly take some new photos and some styling whilst I am cooking this!

Monday.
Lunch: Omelettes 



Dean has Monday off work, I'm not quite sure of our plans (maybe just a home day, making a start on the new decking in the garden?) So I will make up some omelettes! We are currently obsessed with them...Ellie has started calling my Gwen (Gavin and Stacey!!) 

Tea: Steak and ale puffy pie with roast potatoes and steamed veggies 


This is one of my favourites! I make the filling and cook it in the slow cooker all day, then after football I transfer to individual pie dishes, pop on some puff pastry and turn the steamer on.

Tuesday.Lunch: Picnic


We are back in the woods for a bushcraft day! So we will pack up a picnic...because I don't fancy eating worms and drinking pond water (I am joking...this isn't really an option...I hope!)


Tea: Cheesy pasta 


AGAIN!!

Wednesday.

Lunch: Homemade crispy chicken with wraps and salad 


Just some chicken strips, dipped in egg, flour and crushed cornflakes. Yum!!


Tea: Slow cooker jacket potatoes with cheese and beans

Thursday.

Lunch: Pizza pinwheel tear and share.

Tea: Fishcake, mash and mixed veggies 


Something quick for the kiddos before we head out to football, on Thursdays the girls train and then during the school holidays we stay behind to watch Dean play too, so I try to feed the kiddos before we go out because we don't get home until around half 8. 

Friday.

Lunch: Picnic plate


Last lunch of the week. not sure on plans so I think we will plan a picnic or have something like beans or cheese on toast at home. 

Tea: Smoky tomato and halloumi bake with rice and pitta breads


Something for me and Dean (Ellie is back at her Dad's this week, and the younger kids eat at my Nan's on a Friday. I found the recipe here at happyveggiekitchen/

  3. I always make my two Tuna and sweetcorn pasta salad. It's so much cheaper than buying it.
    That fish pie sounds so good and so does the Steak and ale pies. x
