5 Ways To Update a Tired Looking Room

This last few months I feel like my Instagram feed has become all about the home, gorgeous looking rooms looking all fancy in beautifully shot photos. Fifty shades of grey and monochrome minimalist seem the flavour of the day as I scroll through whole homes that have been newly decorated. But can I be honest? We cant all afford to update a whole house all at the same time, especially as trends seem to change so fast! I can barely afford a new sofa, let alone carpets for the whole house, new curtains, blinds, sofas, photos frames that all match, a new bathroom and a new kitchen...uh uh...that is absolutely not happening here! So how can I update our house without completely redecorating. Read on for 5 simple ideas to update a tired looking room.

1. Update your knick knacks

I cant lie, I bloomin love a good knick knack (or ten!). they are my favourite way to update a room. Whether you for seasonal decor or a colour theme, there are so many things out there now, even Poundland has some gorgeous little bits to update the whole house. Candles, mugs, reed diffusers vases, flowers, wreaths, shelf sitters...the list is endless!

2. Add some wall Art

We are currently in the process of printing out photos, and purchasing wall art for a gallery wall in our dining room. Again, right now, Poundland have some really nice bits in, I'm also a fan of DesenioJuniqe and Red Candy right now. Such affordable prints, its so hard to chose!

3. Laminate flooring

This is probably one of the most expensive on the list, and if I am honest I think this is the one to do if you want the most wow factor! Laminate flooring is a great way to update a room, and also not only does it look pretty amazing...its so much easier than carpets to keep clean too!

4. Add some house plants

Did you know by introducing certain plants you will start to notice improvements to your health, and overall happiness? Research by NASA has revealed that houseplants can remove up to 87 per cent of air toxin in 24 hours. Other researches have also proven that house plants not only improve concentration, but they reduce stress levels and boost your mood! And off course there is the fact that they are pretty to!

5. Upcycle an old piece of furniture

We have all heard the saying, one mans rubbish is another mans treasure. With a lick of paint and some new door knobs, an old cupboard can become something completely different!
