Last Minute DIY Fathers Day Gift FOR LESS THAN £5!

So Fathers Day is just a few days away, and I wont lie as per usual I have left the gift buying to the last minute, I haven't got a whole lotta money so a grand gesture of a watch or weekend away isn't valid, and to be honest, I'm a big fan of homemade keepsake gifts for special days, so being skint I headed into town for some inspiration for some cheap easy DIY gift ideas!

It didn't take me long to find my first idea (keep a look out for idea number 2 and 3 coming up in the next couple of days!) and so armed with my £1 slate place mat (found in Poundland) I headed home to make this super cute personalised keepsake that will look really cute displayed on a fire place or sideboard.

What you need:

Slate Placemat (I got ours in Poundland, but I have seen things like slate coasters in Home Bargains, so have a look around and see what you can find before heading over to Amazon for place mats and coasters)
Clear sealer (I use this spray from Amazon, but I have seen similar in Home Bargains, alternatively you could use clear nail polish)

This is literally so easy, I don't even need to give any instructions! Get your children to draw their design straight onto the place mat, being careful not to smudge the chalk too much! Elsie drew a picture of Daddy and together we wrote I Love Daddy (Elsie's choice). I then used the sealer to seal the chalk onto the slate so it couldn't be wiped away. We then left it to dry, and then hid it in a secret place ready to give on Fathers Day!
