Cooking With Kids. One For All EASY Dough Recipe.

This is currently one of the monsters favourite things to make. Its a super easy and very versatile recipe, which you can use to make bread, pizza dough, cookies, Nutella twists, bread rolls and so many more things! Its super easy recipe for kids to make too, and I just kind of take a step back and allow the kids to get on with it, just interjecting if they need me too!

You need:
120ml warm milk
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons dry yeast
500g plain flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
180g plain yogurt
1 whole egg

In a jug stir the lukewarm milk, sugar and yeast. Leave for 15 minutes to allow the yeast to activate.
In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder and salt. And in a separate bowl mix the yogurt and the egg together.

Add the yeast mixture and yogurt mixture to the dry ingredients and use a fork to stir together until it forms a loose, sticky dough. Once all the ingredients are combined turn onto a floured surface and gently knead/ fold the dough together until it forms a rough ball. (If the dough is too dry, add a drop or 2 of milk. If it is too soft, add just a little bit of flour.)

Put the dough in a bowl and cover with a tea towel and leave it in a warm place for around 2 hours to proof. (This could be in a warm airing cupboard, it could be on top of a radiator, or you could put the oven on at the beginning of this recipe, then  once your dough is ready TURN THE OVEN OFF, leave for 5 minutes and then put the dough into the warm but cooling oven)

Once the dough has risen it should be about double in size. From here you can cook so many things! We have made cheesy bread, pizza's, Nutella twists, pizza twists, bread rolls and more.

This all for one dough will keep it in your fridge for up to 4 days. You can freeze it, too.
