Sorry...

Sorry, things are a little different around here at the moment...I'm having a mini makeover and will be back on May 1st with a new look, in the meantime here are ten favourite posts from the blog and our YouTube channel...

1. One of our most read posts, according to my analytics apparently my readers in the US went CRAY for this one in February, with it receiving almost doubling its hits of 1 year in a week!!!!!

2. One of our most popular YouTube videos and also one of my faves, the This or That challenge...KIDS VERSION!!

3. This one went crazy on Facebook with almost 4.5k views to date! Such a simple thing to make, why not give the Loom Band Stick Dominoes a go...

4. A great idea for a rainy day...and let's face it lately there have been plenty!

5. Playdough, made from Nutella that you can eat? Need I say more...

6. Possibly the cutest spiders you will ever see...

7. I love cooking with the kids, our favourite is these fishcakes.

8. Our Spring Garden Sensory Bin was shared on The Imagination Tree Facebook page where it received so many shares and so many lovely comments that I *may* have cried!

9. One of our first craft videos, and Jenson's first solo video, this Spring Chick Paper Plate was chosen as a featured  video on the Channel Mum website last month...again...I may have cried! Jenson looks so small and I love his opening line, I hope he doesn't hate me when he is older!

For number 10 I would love you to tell me in the comments below which of our post is your fave! I would love to know what your favourite kind are so that I can try and do more so make sure you let us know in the comments below....

More Lollipoppers? Churchill Says 'Ohhh Yes!'

There is currently an on-going argument in our house, that is probably happening as you read this, it involves Ellie and the school run. She thinks, at 11, that she is old enough to go by herself. I think...well I believe she could get to school by herself. I mean sure she has the knowledge and the know how to cross a road, but I am not sure the roads are safe enough. There is just 1 road on her journey that doesn't have anywhere safe for her to cross. This one road happens to be one of the closest to the school...

But there is no safe crossing place. No point in the road where she can get across safely. Vans parked on the roadside blocking views, teens on their way to the high school in their boy racer cars, keen to 'impress' their friends, parents who are running late for school, late for work all who are, possibly, veering the wrong side of the speed limit make me anxious about letting her go alone!

If only the school and council had the funding for just 1 extra lollipopper, on a road where when I was a child there was a lollipopper, I would feel safer, and less anxious about Ellie doing the school run on her own.

And I am not on my own. 95% of parents of 5-11-year-olds and 88% of children would feel safer if there was a lollipopper present on their route to school.

But the fact is that following UK legislation in 2000 lollipoppers are no longer a legal requirement of a school and therefore, an increasing number of the iconic lollipop men and women have been taken off the road in recent years, and 61% of parents say that no alternative has been put in place!

Commenting on Churchills research and findings, Kelly Cook, (head of motor claims at Churchill Insurance), said:

"The safety and well-being of children during the school run is so important to schools and parents with road crossings a critical part of the daily journey. With child pedestrian casualties during the school run still an issue in the UK, we wanted to gather the opinion of both parents and children to investigate what they see as being the safest option. Although no longer a legal requirement for schools, it is great to see that the apparently evergreen Lollipopper is still valued as the safest option for parents and children but concerning that many have noticed their numbers diminishing in recent years."

This is why Churchill want to help redress the balance and make this safeguard around our nation’s schools stronger than ever by giving funding to 50 schools to have their own Lollipopper. But first, people, parents like you and me, need to nominate their school for funding! These nominations will be whittled down and 50 schools will receive funding for a ‘Lollipopper’ for one year from September 2016.

I've nominated our local school, will you nominate yours?

Review. Wicked Uncle. Online Toy Store.

Wicked Uncle is an online toy shop with a difference! It is different because unlike all the other internet toy stores Wicked Uncle is aimed at Aunties, Uncles, Nans, Grandads etc who basically have no idea what to buy the little monsters in their lives and...

...what's more, the thoughtful people over at Wicked Uncle have scoured the world to find a selection of fun, unusual and different presents for children. AND if you think it couldn't get much better they gift wrap (£2.95 for the first gift and £1.50 for each gift after) AND can even add a handwritten greeting's card (£1.95) to your order too!

This week we have been getting our bake on for the Kids Make and Bake Club, when I asked the girls what they wanted to do Elsie told me cakes! Evie elaborated princess cakes (and chose some super cute princess cupcake cases) and Ellie really wanted to make strawberry cupcakes. I thought that some Strawberry and Vanilla Buttercream Cupcakes would be perfect for the Kids Make and Bake Club...

My Little Pony Join Geronimo Family Festival 2016

You may remember a few months ago I told you I was a 2016 Geronimo Fest ambassador. We are so excited to be off to Tatton Park for the 2nd round of the family festival for 2016 (the first round is at Harewood House) to see the likes of Mr Tumble and Mr Bloom, as well as some newly announced guests, sure to get the kids EVEN MORE excited...

Busy Bag #5 Colour Word Match Spider

I got the idea from this after seeing this fab post over on Tiny Tots Adventure. Jenson is currently doing great at school with sounding phonics etc and he is OBSESSED with asking 'how do you spell' games. So I thought this would be a great one for him, as well as Elsie who is starting to recognise colours and she also loves matching games!

Activity Time. Bottle Top Spiders

Recently we have started getting spiders in the house (EEEEKKK I SCREAM!), anyhow, I don't want the monsters to be scared of them like I am. Up to now Ellie, Jenson and Evie always scream when they see a spider, a trait I am sure they have learnt from me. And when Elsie sees a spider of photo of a spider she automatically says 'spooky...halloween'. I want her to associate spiders as something not scary, if that makes sense. So we have been reading stories and doing crafts so that they start to see spiders in a non-scary way...
