Late last year we had BIG problems getting Evie to stay in be any later than 5.30, he was waking everyone else in the house up and to be honest this resulted in a pretty miserable house as everyone was tired! So when The Gro Company got in touch and asked if we would like to review the Gro-Clock of course I aid yes!
The Gro-Clock is a sleep trainer tool that enables even young children to understand the difference between sleep time and awake time. It does this using a clever-I-Wish-I-Thought-Of-That- Led clock with a sunshine and stars.
The newest version of the Gro-clock uses fun images of the stars and sun to communicate when to go back to sleep and when it's time to get up. The new 2010 version of the Gro-Clock also allows parents to choose whether or not to display the digital clock during the usual ‘stars to sun’ countdown. So for older children, they can now start to learn digital time, as well as looking out for the arrival of the sun!
So...Did it work?
Well I will be honest for the first week it didn't, but I kept at it, as I had so much faith in this product after hearing such good reviews, and with in I think it was 10 days Evie was sleeping in until the clock told her it was time to get up!
I mean we are in no way a perfect family who's children lay in until 8.30 every morning, and we have found through trial and error that if our kids wake up around 6.30, which is just over 11 hours sleep, is enough for them. And most definitely plenty for their ages.It would be stupid of us to set the clock for 8am and expect them to lay in bed until then, its not going to happen! The main difference we have noticed is that when they do wake up at 5.30 (or earlier...eeeks) it is easy to go into their room without turning the lights on and settle them back into bed and remind them that they have to wait for the sun on the clock.
So yes it works, maybe not every day but the majority of days in a month Evie now sleeps in until the clock tells her to get up!
Thanks Gro-Clock, that extra hour we get in bed is awesome!
