Top Tip: Potatoes are a great buy if you are having a 'skint week'. You can do sooooo many things with a potato!

Fruit Crumble | Cooking With Kids

I love sharing the recipes from our kids cooking class with you all, I would love to see your creations if you try them out too, be sure to share your pics on our Facebook page. This week we made a super simple Fruit Crumble, Evie made it all by herself and Elsie had a real good try, but mostly ate all the ingredients...including the butter!

Bizzy Bitz Review

I have mentioned before that Jenson gets bored easily as he is at that 'on the cusp' age of being to old for preschool toys but still a bit young for older kids toys. One of his favourite things to play with is Lego...but when I say play I mean sits next to us and tells us what to build. And well I don't know about you but I am no Lego builder! So when Bizzy Bitz got in touch and asked us to review 135 piece construction kit I off course said yes!

Three MiFi Review. WiFi On The Go.

We have all been there, booked a break away, arrive and fin that either a) there is no broadband OR b) there is broadband but it is shockingly bad...with the new Three MiFi dongle, you get WiFi whenever you want, where ever you want...

We recently went on a little road trip with Betty and ohhhh my phones signal was rubbish, and then just as Facebook was loading, my credit ran out...My rubbish phone had used £5 of credit and I hadn't even seen an update! The same happened on our recent trip to London, 3 hours on a train with limited to no internet signal on my phone.

Sound familiar?

A while back me an the hubs decided it was a good idea to maybe invest in a mobile WiFi dongle to take with us. I started researching and then, well you now how it is life happens and you forget that they even exist let alone that you wanted one! And then mid August, Three got in touch and asked if we wanted to review their Huawei E5330 Mobile Wi-Fi with 12GB of data (that should last about a year)...talk about luck!

So what do you get for your dollar?

The Huawei E5330 Mobile Wi-Fi lets you securely connect up to 5 WiFi gadgets to the internet at once. So while you’re doing your banking and shopping on your laptop, the kids can play apps on your tablet (Three also have a great range, from £16 a month) and the tween can watch You tube on her phone!

Was it any good?

Yes! We have had dongles in the past, from a variety of mobile providers, and well always found them a little bit rubbish! In fact sometime even getting them to connect at all was a mission!

The device is super slim line, no bigger than a phone and is lightweight. You get about 4-6 hours running time and can charge via USB or mains plug.

We loved this little piece of kit it has definitely become one of my blogging must haves! I would definitely recommend you purchase one!

Disclaimer: We were sent the Three MiFi for free in return for an honest review.

It's Time To Board The Potty Training Train with Thomas and Friends.

In little under 6 weeks Elsie will be turning 2, so I have been thinking about potty training...

In fact we did try a couple of weeks ago, my niece was training and Elsie wanted to wear her pants too, so we went with her prompts but after day 3 of her just screaming in fright every time she needed to wee, we did try the toilet too but that was...well that resulted in a breakdown on the highest level, so we decided to go back to pull ups for a little while (we use ASDA Little Angels First Pants) and introduce the potty more slowly at nappy changes and bedtime.

As well as leaving the potty in the living room for her to see all the time we have also started reading and looking at Thomas and Friends My Potty Book (published by Egmont RRP £7.99).

Through out the book Thomas & Friends take you through every step of potty training. And with lots of photographs of real children, your toddler will be motivated to give it a go just like them. The pages in the book cover everything from choosing pants to washing hands, and also the inevitable wee on the floor!

But its OK...its just an accident!

And for when Elsie does get it right there's a reward chart and stickers too!

We have had the book for 3 days and that along with introducing the potty more slowly has led to Elsie now wanting her pull up changed every time she wets it! Which, I mean I don't do, part of potty training is feeling uncomfortable, and she has started grabbing the potty and asking to it on it...which is at least a step in the right direction!

We are going to try again with pants very soon, but I want to make sure she is more than ready and the Thomas and Friends book is a great way to ensure she feels comfortable and not scared as she was at the beginning of our potty traning journey just a couple of weeks ago!

We have also been looking at the Thomas and Friends Well Done Thomas Activity Book (published by Egmont RRP £5.99) when it is just me and her at home in the afternoon, it a great book to encourage positive behaviour, it comes with 4 pages of stickers, certificates and 2 reward posters you can set some extra challenges too! We have been using one for sitting on the potty as that has encouraged her to not scream and cry at it!

Family Meal Plan #3

Another week another meal plan...

Top Tip: Regularly check your freezer for stuff you have forgotten about! I found 2 half packs of sausages that will be used in our pasta dish on Monday.

5 Ideas For...Pumpkin Recipes

It's safe to say Autumn is on its way. The first golden leaves are scattered on the ground, the darkness of the evening getting earlier, the chill in the morning air, the slow cooker in my kitchen! It's got me thinking about autumn recipes and meals. One thing I have never tried is pumpkin, I definitely want to try eating it this year rather than just carving one! So here are 5 ideas for cooking with pumpkins!

Kids Stuff Crazy Soap Review

It no secret around this blog that the monsters HATE bath time, I am always on the hunt for products to make it a little more fun. I always think it is best to have a basket full of kids products that they can choose what to use, we all know toddlers and preschoolers can be fickle at times and love something one day and hate it the next! So we were very excited to add Kids Stuff Crazy Soap to our kids bath time basket...

Recipe. M&M Crumbly Cookies

I've been promising the monsters we would make these for the last few weeks, we finally got round to baking on Wednesday morning, it was Jenson's morning at home before full days at school  started and so we did a few of his favourite things! These cookies were so easy to make and tasted amazing, you NEED to make these...believe me you will thank me later!

Novotel London Blackfriars Review

During our last visit to London we stayed in the 4 Star Novotel London Blackfriars hotel...

Photos courtesy of Novotel website

Location.

Novotel London Blackfriars is Located near the Thames River Blackfriars Bridge London Eye and Tate Modern. It is a 2 minute walk from  Southwark Tube Station and you are super close to South Bank. Our 6th floor room had a view of The Shard.

Check In.

Check in was super easy, in fact as we arrived in London earlier than check in the reception staff happily took our bags so we could attend our event  without them! They then even took our bags up to our room for our arrival. Five stars for that Novotel!!

The lobby was large and bright with simple but really cool decor! An LED welcome sign going up the stairs, and interactive art work on the walls. I wish I had more photo of the art work but it took us until check out to realise that they changed, by which time all my stuff was packed away!

The lobby also housed a cool web corner with Apple mac's that Ellie LOVED and she stayed and took advantage of the free WIFI whilst I filmed the room tour!

The Room.

We stayed in a family room, with a huge double bed and 2 single beds. Even with the 2 single beds out the room was still really spacious! Watch a room tour below:

All the rooms in Novotel London Blackfriars have a glass screen, which becomes transparent or opaque at the touch of a button, that separates the room and the bathroom.

All room in the hotel have a  32" TV and media hub, although I didnt know how to connect it so an instruction manual would have been great, although I am sure if I had rang down to reception someone would have been up to help us out!

Food.

I just love the food at Novotel! We opted, for pizza and fries to share in our room after a busy day in London!

The next day we headed down to an almost empty Elements restaurant for breakfast (the perks of young children waking up at 6!!!), we could have opted for room service again, but by this point a 3yo and 4yo are definitely ready for a change of scenery! We chose to sit at a quite table for 4, but there was plenty of seating from 1 seat TV tables, tables for large families and also this super cool iPad table that you can see in the background of my photo below...It came in very handy once the monsters had eaten their weight in breakfast and I was able to finish my (now cold after getting up and down so much with the 2 smaller ones!) breakfast.

And we tucked into everything from pancakes, to croissants to coffee, hot chocolate, toast, cereals, bacon eggs the works...Evie and Jenson also enjoyed a BabyBel from the continental breakfast!

Coco Pops...of course got the thumbs up!

Other Stuff...

Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to make use of the free gym or heated pool (boooo!!), nor did we need to make use of Novotel offering FREE hire of the Quinny Yezz to traveling families (which I definitely would have used had we had Elsie with us!) The website says their is a play area for children of all ages but we couldn't find it (again too wimpy to ask!) nor did I get to test out the bar, although it looked fantastic, travelling on my own with 3 children wasn't the time to be trying out the wine list!

 Photos courtesy of Novotel website.

We had an absolutely great time at Novotel London Blackfriars and we were certainly not ready to go home, as a family we are great lovers of our capital and I know that we will be visiting again in the near future, Novotel as a brand, and certainly this hotel will be high up on our list of places to check for booking first!

Process Art with Bikes, Scooters (and apparently our bodies too!)

I have become a major lover of process art...I have been searching Pinterest and You Tube for inspiration the last week and it all began after watching THIS video on YouTube so on Friday after school we grabbed our bits and bob's and went out into the garden to create...
