It was really hard to choose my 2nd choice as I loved My Bored Toddler's Easter Craft roundup and I thought the rock monsters over at Monkey and Mouse are just great!

DIY Easter Baskets.

Did you see my Homemade Easter round up post? One of my suggestions was homemade Easter baskets and this weekend I got Evie and Jenson together and we settled down to a bit of paper mache-ing and made these beauties!

Tomy Disney Princess Cinderella Aquadoodle Review

We usually have pens, paper, crayons etc out all the time but lately Elsie ha took a shine to drawing on everything...the cream leather sofa now has doodles all over it (if anyone has any tips on getting biro from leather comment below!) along with the walls and doors *sob*...Anyways I have packed them away until this habit has disappeared (they still come out but when I can sit and watch the monsters with them) so when Tomy asked us if we would like to review the Aquadoodle of course I said YES!

5 Ideas For...A Home-Made Easter.

Easter is just around the corner and well to be honest I haven't bought, or planned ANYTHING. We have walked around the shops and looked at all the Easter goodies a thousand and one times and not bought anything, so I had a thought a couple of nights ago...lets go home-made, it worked at Christmas it can work again! So here are my...

Animals Jigsaw and Sticker Book from Little Tiger Press.

Have you heard of the My Little World series from Little Tiger Press? They are a series of books introducing young children to the world around them and perfect for learning through play (which I love!). One of the latest titles is this jigsaw and sticker book Animals. Illustrated by the fabulous Fhiona Galloway (who is becoming one of my favourite children's illustrators lately, her images are perfect for little ones!)

Tic-Tac-Toe Busy Bag

Number 3 in my new busy bag series (check out this post HERE to find out all about busy bags!) is a simple home made activity perfect for restaurants or when you have more than 1 child to keep busy!

Train By Judi Abbot Review

As you all know by now we love books, we have books available for the monsters all the time, saying that we also need to watch a certain 1 year old is is obsessed with ripping paper! She will purposely sit on a book and then rips the pages as quickly as she can...because she knows we are a-coming! So although we have paper backs out, its also a good idea to have a few board books too!!

What A Woman Blogging About Body Image Taught Me.

Back in January, exactly 8 weeks ago,  I was browsing through some blogs and came across a post entitled 'What A Woman Talking About Chips Taught Me About Body Image' over at Pouting In Heels it stirred something inside of me and prompted me to STOP and think about the lifestyle I was living...

A completely healthy lifestyle in terms of what I was eating but in fact it was starting to destroy my confidence and it was having an adverse effect on Ellie, she wasn't eating, she had become OBSESSED with how she looked, fussed with what she was eating and was actually hardly eating anything at all. There was even one point where she sat on the stairs in tears in tears because a pair of jeans didn't fit her. Now, let me explain said jeans didn't fit her because they were simply too small..an age 8 pair of jeans on an age 10, who wears age 11, body. she had simply outgrown them...but she didn't see this.

She saw she was ''too fat'' as she stood there trying to pinch some skin from her stomach as she shouted at me telling me it was because she was fat. She wouldn't listen to me when I was trying to explain she had just outgrown them.

Roll on 8 weeks...not a massive amount of time I know BUT in that time a lot has changed so Kate here is a note to you..

To Kate,

Thank you Kate, thank you, thank you for saving me from a life of counting 'syns'. From a life of checking calories and fat content. From a life of asking....'Do I look OK?''. From a life of pulling myself down. A life where I kept telling myself I wasn't good enough.

A life where what I looked like, what I weighed and how I felt RULED over everything...

Thank you Kate for saving my daughter from a future that followed the same as mine had done, from saving her from thoughts that could easily have turned into an eating disorder had I continued the path I had chosen.

I know some may read this and think I am being dramatic, which maybe I am. But wouldn't you be if your daughters well being was at risk?

I now don't care what I eat, and I am definitely no longer shouting about it. I don't count calories, syn's, fat content...anything. If I want it I eat it...I use my common sense to live a healthy lifestyle. I go running once a week, I exercise once a week, I walk EVERY day.

Last night I had warm fudge cake and ice cream...Wednesday night I had the same and a glass of wine...there was no guilt, no counting took place and I enjoyed the food I was eating, actually tasting it, I enjoyed every sip of wine that I took.

And Ellie? She is now eating properly. She now rarely complains about what is on her plate, what is in her lunchbox. She hasn't complained about been 'fat' I haven't heard the word ugly come from her mouth. I haven't heard her obsessing over the fact that all of her friends have 'boyfriends' including one 10 year old who apparently has a 14 year old boyfriend....which to be honest I have told Ellie is BS! this 'friend' is trying to make herself look good I am sure of it! I mean what parent would let their 10 year old have  a 14 yer old boyfriend...just who?

So to you Kate, who probably just thought you was writing a post that would get people thinking, not realising it would change a life, maybe 2 life's if you count Ellie too, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I don't have any words that can tell you just how thankful I am.

The Demons are gone and its with thanks to you,

Lots of love,

Becky X

Fruit Heroes Snack Bars Review

We are always on the look out for new snack to try and so when the lovely people at Fruit Heroes asked us to try out their fruit bars we of course said yes!

Fruit Heroes are the number one lunchbox snack in its native Denmark and one of the country’s biggest-selling, with more than 30 million Fruit Heroes fruit bars consumed every year. Sounds a big claim to make and we were busting to see what all the fuss was about!

The Fib's We Tell As Parents!

I recently saw this post in the Independent about Research* shown that the most common fibs we tell are to 'make ourselves look better'...

Nose

At number one it was found that 45% lie about skydiving (I don't know bout you but its not something that ultimately makes me thing better of someone?) in second place (41%) was lieing about having met a celeb...I suppose depending on the celeb this could be cool, I mean if I told you I had met (the gorgeous) Eastender Danny Dyer you would be pretty impressed right? But if I told you I had met I dunno ermm Dean Gaffney (off 90's Eastenders fame) you would be less than impressed!

Anyways it got me thinking about the fibs we tell kids...

Threading Busy Bag

Remember I said I was going to make LOTS of busy bag this month? Well I have been super busy making lots and lots of busy bags sure to keep any littley busy!

Design and Create Your Own Social Media Buttons For Free!

After searching the internet for how to create your own Social Media buttons I realised...bloggers like to use ALOT of words I don't understand and I end up getting lost and kinda figuring it out myself and so thought I would hare a post but it in simple terms and make it easy to use for us forever amateur bloggers...

Designing and creating your own social media icons is actually pretty simple– If you already have a knowledge of PicMonkey great..if not? No worries it is still simple and I will go through EVERY SINGLE STEP IN DETAIL WITH IMAGES.

What You Need:

  • Set of Silhouette Social Media Icons (DONT LOOK AT ME BLANKLY...I just mean some plain black icons! I will provide the most used Social Media at the bottom of this post or you can wander the web to find your own!!)
  • Access To PicMonkey
  • Access to an Image hosting site (lost you again? I mean like Picasa etc, your images NEED a URL)
  • Access to Image Maps
Access to the above is all free (though I do recommend upgrading in PicMonkey, it isn't necessary for this!)

5 Ideas For...De-Cluttering The House!

So now we are mid way through March Spring has (finally) sprung so that must mean its time for that big spring clean!  For us this means we get out into the garden and get it all tidied up and ready for warmer weather, it also includes a crazy mass de-clutter of EVERY thing in EVERY room of the house!

Our house is full of ''stuff'' literally its just ''stuff''...from ''stuff'' we received as a gift and ''stuff'' we got given from my Nan with a 'I thought you could use this for something' to ''stuff'' we bought because it was a bargain or was only a quid in Poundland and ''stuff'' that is waiting to go on Ebay/Charity shops etc...You get the idea...so when the Spring time comes around and you realise that actually you are living in something a hoarder (no? just me then yeah?) would be proud of its actually time to do something about it!

So here are 5 Ideas For...De-Cluttering The House!

What We Did In London!

When KidRated heard me and Ellie were headed to London for the weekend back in February, they did everything they could to help us out! From sending us a London Pass to offering some words of advice when I got myself in a panic over travelling on the underground!

Kidrated

KidRated is a review site mainly for kids to review attraction in and around London (and also some other UK attractions) there are also a few reviews and videos for other stuff to! Like our Homemade Lemonade video, and their are a few more recipes and book and film reviews too!

So as we go through this list of things we did you will see some of them have a pic of Ellie with her fingers up...this is Ellie's K-Rating!

Stur Water Enhancer Review

For a while now I have been thinking about how much juice the monsters have been drinking and I'd really like them, to be drinking more water! So when we were asked to review Stur Water Enhancer I was hoping this would be the answer to my questions...

DIY The Tiger Who Came To Tea Costume.

As you may have read on Tuesday post, Jenson's pre-school have decided on a theme which meant I had little time to get an outfit sorted  for him and, therefore, have had to scramble together a quick make...

DIY Veruca Salt Fancy Dress

'I want to be Veruca Salt for World Book Day Mummy'' Ellie said in February 2013...Easy I said...yeah easy if I could actually sew (which I cant!) BUT after many hours sewing..and unpicking and re-sewing.

But I finally got there and we finally completed her outfit AND it lasted all day (unlike the disaster of 2012 when the mini dress I made for her 1960's day at school fell apart AT SCHOOL...oppsie what a mum fail!!)

Apologies the photos are rather shocking...the days when I didn't blog and had a rubbish phone..but you get the idea!

DIY Mary Poppins Fancy Dress.

Last year I put Ellie's outfit together myself, and she became Mary Poppins for the day! This was one of my favourite outfit's I have ever but together for her...

This Weeks Little Loves...

I recently came across this link up over at But Why Mummy Why? and I love it! I think it will really help with my New Years Resolutions of staying happy and finding a positive in every day!

So with out further ado, here are this weeks #LittleLoves...

Something I:

Read...

Well I have done a rubbish job at reading anything this week but Penguin Random House sent me and the kids Alfie and Grandma, it was a lovely book to add to our book shelf and I definitely recommend adding it it to your monsters book collections.

Watched...

My Evie-Belle and niece Millie playing with each other! and snuggling with each other. It melted my heart and its funny how just little things like that will stay with me forever! Cousin and best friends...I hope they stay this close forever!

Also to make the grade...

BROADCHURCH FINALE! How could this not make the list! If you missed it? Go catch up on ITV player!

Heard...

Jenson laughing and playing with my Dad and then telling him ''I Love You Pappy...Your my bestest friend. Am I your best friend too?''

Also to make the grade...

George Ezra...his voice is just BLISS!

Made...

LISTS! And more lists...and more lists...

None of which were completed grrrrr!!

Wore...

Avon Virtual Lift Serum. It been in my bathroom cupboard for years (seriously...I think I bought it in 2009!!)  but it is amazing and there is a reason I bought 3 bottles of the stuff! It has mixed reviews on the web but I love it! For an INSTANT tightened (and therefore in my book that must mean its lifting!) face. Yes it sticky and a bit tacky whilst you apply but once dried, and I think it dries quick, its perfect. And for those who say whats the point if I don't even know if it does what it says? Well I feel amazing when I wear it so that is enough for me!

And Lastly...

My loves for charity shops continue! This week we have picked up a Next Spiderman tee for Jenson, a Next long sleeve summery cotton top for Evie, a Peppa Pig onesie for Evie and a Thats Not My Rabbit book for Elsie all for less than four quid! HUZZAH!

#ToddlerApprovedTuesday Week 19

YEY!! High Five to me! I actually commented on everyone's posts this week BEFORE the weekend! Woppeee!!!

Anyway enough blowing my own trumpet...there were so many posts to chose from this week I have really had to whittle then down!

First up, all my working life I have been a Nursery Nurse and I get really pi**ed of with all the bad press that nursery's get! So to read 'A Positive Of Nursery' over at The Melton House really made me smile and yell YEAHHHHHHHHHH! at the laptop!!

The Melton House

I also really enjoyed Cookies and Cwtches CHALK Preschool review it looks a great resource to use with Evie and Jenson in their at home learning. I will be checking it out and using it alongside the current tools we use such as Twinkl  and TES.

Now on with the show...

The A-Z Of Me!

It came to me one morning that I spend so much time writing and researching/idea storming for my blog that I don't get chance to do a lot of reading anymore.

Therefore I have made a conscious decision to start again...to start reading some of my fave blogs from their beginning! Not only has it been really nice to see where my fave bloggers started but is also been quite inspiring in ideas for my own blog! Today comes with inspiration from this A-Z post from Aby at You Baby Me Mummy. So here it is an A-Z Of Me!
