#wickedwednesdays #15

Halloween...such a fun time of year, full of happinesss, trick or treats etc etc...you get what I mean?

Every year we deck the house out, I go ridiculously overboard with treats for the children knocking at the door, we get on our fancy dress and head out to do some trick or treating...all good fun! I LOVE IT!

Apart from last year...I gave birth to Elsie on the 28th...didnt really feel like going out BUT never one to let my kids down I did all the above...decorated the house etc etc. Now we only had a small window of opportunity to get the trick or treating done...Elsie was breastfeeding and around every 1.5/2 hours or so. Add to the equation that I was a hormonal and tired wreck...

Now as a rule we only knock at houses which are decorated, I see it that if they arent decorated with at least a pumpkin then they dont want to know! Fair enough yes? And the kids know this!

So imagine their horror when at one house no one answered the door...Ellie stood their like ''I'll knock again maybe they didnt hear''...no Ellie they arent in...and oh would you believe what happened next...

The kids had a tantrum. Jenson ran into the road. I had Evie who refused to walk. Ellie storming off down the street. GREAT!

So I had enough and marched them all home, Evie in arms Jenson and Ellie both crying because I actually followed through with the threat of going home...

I stormed up the side of the car on the drive...and it all seem to happen in slow motion...I slipped on wet leaves and me and Evie both slammed to the floor...f**k it hurt! My knee was sooo swollen and so sore....

And Evie....Evie was a mess and I still feel so so SOOOOOOOO guilty now...her face was so bruised (this pic does not show the real ouchness!) where as the majority of myself had landed on the grass, (apart from my knee which caught the edge of the drive) Evie had had her face take the impact and hit the paving.

Looking back it is a little bit funny how we hit the ground like a sack of spuds! I mean look at her face she wasn't that bothered, I mean don't get me wrong it hurt and she cried but give her some sweets from her Treat bag and she was fine!

But me on the other hand god I cried...I cried for at least 3 hours! Then when we woke up the next day  and I saw her face...I cried again for another hour or so!

So lets hope on this Halloween we get through the night as a happy night, no stress, no tantrums, just fun times!

Ohh one last thing....

Its so simple all you need is paper, felt pens, medium/large toy cars/trucks etc and masking tape.

Tape your pens to the backs of the cars, and your ready to go! Drive the cars along the paper and voila....toddler approved art!

Guest Post. Learn The Letter Activities.

We had loads of fun this week with our "I" related activities so let's get stuck right in!

Insect Hotel.

I don't know about yours, but my toddlers LOVE anything creepy crawly, they also love being outside so this activity was perfect!

You will need;
A 2 litre plastic bottle
Wood and sticks
Cardboard tubes

Step 1) cut the top and bottom off the plastic bottle so you have an open ended cylinder

Step 2) the really fun part - go out in the garden or local wooded area and collect small sticks and pieces of wood

Step 3) any toilet roll tubes you have saved for craft projects comes in handy now, take a tube and wet it under the tap (insects like damp!)

Step 4) go and pick a nice spot to set up your hotel, and place all the sticks and cardboard inside the plastic bottle, and now just wait for your guests!

We went back to ours a few hours later and had a few visitors, both boys were so excited! They have regularly gone out to check it since we built it, and it's definitely one of the most successful things we've made!

You will need;
An iguana print out
Pipe cleaner
Plastic clothes peg
Sticky tape

Step 1) cut out your iguana in 2 halves lengthways from the mouth

Step 2) using the sticky tape, stick the iguana onto the clothes peg, so when you pinch the peg it's mouth "opens and closes"

Step 3) taking your pipe cleaner, wind it around the pencil to make it "curl" and stick onto your iguana to make a tongue. Done!

I made a few of these which my boys had lots of fun playing with (until the fighting ensued and they were destroyed in the crossfire!)

Ice lollies.

You will need;
Plastic cups or ice lolly moulds
Lollipop sticks
2 bananas
1 tsp Honey
4 tbsp Natural or flavoured yoghurt
Plastic fork
Plastic bowl

Step 1) place the bananas in the bowl and hand your toddler the fork and let them get mashing (they may need showing what to do at first but they soon get the hang of it!)

Step 2) add the yoghurt (we used apricot flavour) and honey and let them give it a good mix

Step 3) tip the mixture into the plastic cups (this was enough to half fill 2 cups) and pop in the freezer

Step 4) after 30-60 mins go and put the lollipop sticks into the ice lollies, they should be part set so the the sticks won't move around. Leave to freeze

A massive hit! The boys absolutely loved them and there's absolutely all sorts of flavours you could make!

Thanks for reading!

Product Review. Rainbow Braid Loom Band Pack.

You know if you know Ellie you know she is crazy mad for loom bands! So when we got asked to review Rainbow Braid's 5400 mega refill pack she jumped at the chance!!

Hi everyone its Ellie!!

First of all in the massive pack we got:

300 Each of the following loom band colours:

Light Blue,

Dark Blue),

Fluro Yellow,

Fluro Green,

Fluro Blue,

Fluro Pink,

Fluro Orange,

Fluro Purple),

Pink Glitter,

Blue Glitter,

Purple Glitter,

Orange Glitter,

Green Glitter

You also get 250 S clips.

Mummy loved that the loom bands had all been tested and they dont contain any nasty chemicals! I loved that the colours are all packed individually and they were all REALLY REALLY REALLY strong not 1 of the bands snapped (I have used lots of brands and these were by far the best!!) I also like that they are cheap, at the minute you can buy them for  under £13 on Amazon which means I could save up my pocket money and get them really quickly! (I get about £5 a week) I have added these to my Christmas list too, because they are nearly all gone.

They would make a great pressie for a loom band lover!

Here are a few of my makes:

Nail polish, Crown, Pencil, Owl

Oh No!! Kids Say The Funniest Things!

I don't condone children swearing, OK, BUT I do swear. Accidentally, of course!

So this morning after putting Elsie down for her morning nap, I came downstairs to tidy up and of course the little shits monsters wouldn't help! So 15 minutes later the room was tidy...I go to the loo...

And came back to them throwing toys in the air, basically emptying every box I just filled...

So as you imagine I stood their gawping at them and said...

''You gotta be taking the piss!''

...to no one in particular. Jenson continued to empty boxes in some crazed manner.

Evie stopped. Looked at me. And in her sweetest most caring voice...

''No Mummy...We arent taking the piss.''

...deadly serious.

I dont know if it was funny or not. Well what I mean is, it wasn't funny that she swore...BUT it was funny how she said it so sweetly, so caring!

#wickedwednesdays #14

Sorry Jenson...Just sorry! It's all I have to say, but to be fair you did do it to yourself!

You Might Be More Feminist Than You Think...I Certainly Am!

Yep I said it...the 'F' word, you may (or may not) have seen this post by The (Mal)Contented Mother. (if you haven't seen it go read NOW!).

I was drawn to the post through the Good Read's feature on the Tots100 site I regularly read and this photo (below) was the one to represent the blog post...
Photo Courtesy of The (Mal)Contented Mother

I reluctantly clicked the link with a ‘what shit is she writing about’ kind of attitude. Now I have never read this certain blog and I thought it was going to be one of those with a no boys toys in this boys house sprinkled in for extra effect which infuriates me as I imagine that these children will grow up thinking men cant be firefighters, police officers etc etc, because these parents are so busy making sure that they know woman do these jobs...hope that makes sense…it does in my head!! BUT anyway having read it, more than once. I am glad I did, it has a powerfully positive statement to make in the way's we teach our children.

And it made me think...Maybe I'm more feminist than I would class myself. I mean I am never going to be demonstrating down at Parliament with a placard in the air but I'm all for equality, and that is the same kind of thing right? No, really, am I right?.......Well this is what I get from feminism anyways, so I shall continue...

I mean for starters my monsters have all sorts of toys, they all equally play with everything. Evie will dress up
as a cowgirl in the same outfit Jenson wears to be a cowboy. They both have dolls and prams (well we have one pram but they use their shopping trolley as a pram too!) They choose what they want to play with when they want (I do believe once they were playing with their babies and Evie was a Daddy too!), the car box is as big as the dolly box and they are bought books etc on their interests, not on their genders.

In fact Evie has always been a bit of a car and dino lover, it has only been recently that her interests have changed and she is crazy about princesses, I mean don't get me wrong she isn't totally ''girlified'' that girl wets her self in excitement when a motorbike goes by....if she was to ever see a princess riding a motorbike then wowzas I think her head would explode! Jenson has always been a car and bike lover, but get him in that kitchen and he would give Katy ''I Can Cook'' a run for her money.

And then there's nursery's I have worked at I have made songs etc as inclusive as I could. ''Right we are on the bus (singing The Wheels On The Bus)...who's on the bus guys? I would regularly ask! You know, using their experiences, what they know, to sing a song...Sometimes the Mummy's would chatter chatter chatter BUT sometimes Mummy drove the bus...Mummy forgot the shopping, Mum's car was in the garage, SOMETIMES Daddy drove the bus, SOMETIMES Nanny handed out snacks, ONCE Grandad fell asleep, ONCE baby stole the man in fronts hat (ha ha ha!) and my most favourite SOMETIMES Daddy says 'stop picking your nose and sit down please'. HILARIOUS!

We all wear what we want, I mean I'm not going to say I will allow Jenson to go out wearing one of Evie's dresses anytime soon, but if he wants to dress up as a princess in the house who am I to stop him (BTW before any trolls think they can run with that comment...If, in the future Jenson decide's he want to wear dresses and skirts...then so be it, BUT seeing as he is a toddler he will wear what I buy him!) If Ellie wants to wear a pair of jeans and converse, fine go ahead...If she wants to wear a dress and paint her nails? That's fine too.

You see what I don't agree with is sexism, in any way, towards females or males. Equality is what I teach my monsters but I don't and won't go out and make a point of making sure I only buy dolls for my son, nor will I only buy cars for my daughter. Instead I choose equality without them realising, because that is when it means nothing, when it is normal, when no big deal is made over what Fred and Jane are doing!

My monsters will have what they want (within reason) and they will do what they want (within reason) because it is 2014 and actually I am unsure why this is even still something we still talk about, Its almost as though we have gotten to the point where some people wont be happy until all men of the world are, erm I don't know erm, in the kitchen and all the women are driving forklift trucks or such. I mean there was a story on the news a few years ago about a Mum and Dad (I'm sure Dad was the female and Mum was the male!) who had completely gone against the grain and only bought their son ''girls'' stuff...he wore skirts and nightdresses he played with dolls and a kitchen. He didn't own any ''boys toys'' nor any ''boy clothes''...I mean really? I don't mean to offend anyone but what are they, crazy nuts? What result do they think they are actually going to get at the end of his childhood?

Lets just be happy that I don't know people have jobs! That people have clothes! That our children have toys! Does it matter what they are? Does it matter what we do? We are all human beings, lets just try and get along.

My First Visit To Blog Camp...What I've Learnt!

I had a totally AMMMMMAAZING time at Blog Camp on Saturday! So many lovely people that popped over to say hello to me...I mean they knew who I was...crazy s**t is that! I was not expecting anyone to want to come and say hey to me which leads me to the first, and main thing, I learnt...

1. Be Confident.

Taking this tip from Vicky at Honest Mum, I was seriously in awe of her, she is just so confident and proud, I think that's the right word? Proud of what she has built up, I mean come on, 2 blogs and an online article for Grazia Magazine, award winning...to name a few of her wonderful attributes! (Again is that the right word?) She is seriously, in my eyes Queen Blogger!

So any way when she entered the room, I sure a hell knew about her, she oozes glamour, confidence and love. From the way she speaks you can tell she loves her blogs, her jobs. I need this, I doubt Vicky would ever say 'Oh its just a blog'. Believe in yourself, believe in your blog...You are aces...believe it!

2. Know Your S**t!

I think this advice came from the captivating Kiran of Mummy Says, if your going to email companies/PR's/editors etc know who you are talking too! You know, don't email Mother and Baby about your post on teenagers!

3. Be professional.

A company sends you something? Don't chuck it to the side and wait a few weeks...GET IT DONE! Find out the deadline, if it hasn't been mentioned. Finding something difficult? Email and tell them! I felt really stupid listening to this advice as it is so, so obvious and I am ashamed to say that at the very beginning of my blogging journey I received an item I didn't like, instead of doing anything about it I just didn't post a review! Now I know that was naughty, I shouldn't have done this....at least I didn't slate their product though hey!

4. Be Nice!

Well I always think I am nice anyways. I certainly don't believe I have ever been rude on purpose. I always reply to tweets and I'm getting better at replying to comments more often! But ''getting better'' could always be ''I always do'' right!

5. Read other blogs and Comment, Comment, Comment!

PR's, companies, editors etc can find you through your comments on others blogs! Like a review you have read? Comment you never know who's reading!  And whilst your leaving comments, bloggers are more likely to come back over to your blog...Blog love and all that!

Finally a quick Thanks to all at Tots 100, for a fabulously amazing day! I cant wait for the next one!
Sorry for the lack of photos on my behalf...BUT pop over to the Tots100 Facebook page and their are lots of wonderfully amazing pics or check out the #BCUK hashtag on Instagram and Twitter!

Ohhhh and one last thanks to Beth for being my backbone on Saturday!!

Until next time...

The Week That Was...11th-17th October '14

This week has been an good week all round! (Its about time hey!)

Home Life.

Wow what an amazing week we have had! A super busy weekend consisting of One Direction, hot dogs popcorn, cakes and chocolate (oooppssie NOT Slimming World friendly!) with Ellie on Saturday (read about our evening HERE!). And Milkshake Live, chocolate and more treats with my 2 mini monsters on Sunday! (Look out for a blog post later next week!)

Midweek...erm just the usual with school runs etc, but actually this week we haven't really made a lot of baking or anything! As mostly this week I have been trying to catch up on the blog as we are going away this weekend (BLOG CAMP HERE I COME) and fighting with a poorly Elsie Bear she has horrendous nappy rash, teething AND conjunctivitis all at once...as you can imagine she's been a joy! Though from this video you wouldn't believe she had been poorly...

And on Friday (today) I met with the lovely Tami from Mummy of Two and her gorgeously cute little girl for playtime and coffee! I am so glad I plucked up the courage to message her and ask her if she would like to go for coffee sometime! She made it totally easy and put me at complete ease! God how am I going to cope tomorrow at blog camp!

Fave Photo's This Week.

1. Ellie and Evie loom band-ing together!
2. Baby Laila Rae 'playing' with the monsters!

Twycross Zoo on Sunday.
Taking Betty for her first outing (even though she isnt finished yet, the campsite is £24 for the whole weekend, compared to £100+ for a hotel...its kind of a no-brainer!)

Blog life.

I don't even now where to start! This week has been amazing! Another popular #ToddlerApprovedTuesday link up. Some amazing opportunities have come my way via my email inbox, I tell you the joy I get from opening up my GMail is ridiculous!!  (I cant wait to tell you all about them, keep a look out!!)

We also made the shortlist in the Q Hotels Family Ambassador competition BAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! HOW EXCITING IS THAT! You can vote HERE! Pretty please. You can vote for more than 1 person an we would really appreciate your vote, we are up against some great bloggers with huge followings! Read our entry and refresh your memory of why we think we would make great ambassadors!

Another exciting announcement in the 3 Princesses and 1 Dude world...Blog Star's Little Stars. Hand the reins over to your little ones in my new weekly feature as we interview them and ask them all sorts of questions all about you...Do you dare take the challenge! If you do leave a comment below or use the contact form at the top of the page and I will add you to the list (I will warn you I have had an overwhelming response and the waiting list is currently up to May!!!) Oh and there's even a snazzy badge for you to pop on your blog!

Fave posts from the week.

This post from Make Me An Earth Mother made me  HOWL! Literally! I snorted coffee out of my nose! Who knew yoghurt could be so laugh out loud funny!

Milestones Of Motherhood from Big Trouble in Little Nappies a so true look at the funny side of 'First Times'!

I couls just call this section 'Lets Be An ArseLicker...' This week I have fallen in love with Aby at You Baby Me Mummy! Baby's Playhouse is beautiful and so, the exterior of our playhouse (and that part of the garden) is next on my project list...I haven't told Dean yet because god, he would kill me we haven't even got half way with Betty yet!

It was actually Aby's Share Your Wedding Feature that got me brainstorming and coming up with my own ideas and researching ideas for a weekly bloggers feature and voila Blog Stars Little Stars was born!

Oh and this Linky List from Aby is just AMAZEBALLS! I love me a linky (or 10!) cant wait to discover some more next week! If your new to linkys take a look you are bound to find something in there!

And lastly this week I will be reading blogger extraordinaire Honest Mum's Blogging Tips! As she is the blogging master I am sure I will find some amazing hints and tips!
