Mummy Brag...#LOUDNPROUD

I won lie...I love to brag, but only about my kids...I love everyone to know just how fantastic they are!!!

I dont do it to make others feel bad, I dont sit here and think I'm gonna tell all you mummys how well my little one is doing so that you can feel like utter shit because yours isnt doing it yet! I love to share (if you follow me on Instagram you will know just how much I love to share!!) my beautiful kids latest 'look what I can do' moment.

So imagine my delight when browsing through Twitter and I came across Secrets of The Sandpit's Loud n Proud Linky!

There is only one thing I can brag about this week and that is how amazing my gorgeous clever little Evie is! She isnt yet 2 but in the last 4 days she has become dry DAY AND NIGHT! To be honest we (when I say we I mean I, its not really the hubbys area!) werent planning on starting potty training her just yet, not for a couple of months, but on Tuesday I started stocking up on potty provisions...you know character pants, character toilet wipes etc etc. Evie went nuts for them and literally sat and tried each and every, all 12 pairs, on over her pull up...getting more and more excited as she found Doc McStuffins and Sophia the First on each pair she pulled out!

The next day she decided that she wanted to wear her Doc pants so in a hasty decision I decided that this was it potty training was starting....

She has been an absolute star I'm so pleased with her! (we've even got rid of the potty timer!)

It also maintains my 100% effective Potty Training Tips and Advice!

It seems this week has been all about the

POTTY!

I was planning on potty training Evie in the summer but after going shopping for potty training provisions, yep prepping early, including Doc McStuffins and Sophia undies as well as Peppa Pig toilet wipes, Evie decided she wanted to go on the potty now!

Monster Hand Puppets.

We were supposed to be doing Pet Rocks today with D but seeing as D didn't end up coming round today and I cant actually remember where I put them (would you believe it I lost something else!!!) I decided we would make box monsters instead...that Jenson then decided made a great hand puppet..and obviously Evie copied!!

What you need:

I got the monster face printables from Design Dazzle.

Firstly I unfolded the cereal boxes and then the munchkins painted the 'inside' of the box (I apologise for the lack of photos I had a little Elsie bear on my lap but to be fair its really simple and doesnt need photos!)

They then stuck their eyes and bits on (they stuck with the paint).

That was it then we just left them to dry and then I stuck them back together ready to be played with!

I love them one of my most fave things we have made in a while! What a great way to end our Monster Themed Week!

Playtime!

Mummy of Two

Monster Meals!!

This week our theme is 'Monsters' so, obviously we just had to have some 'monster meals'.

My own little monsters have enjoyed Monster Mousse's, Monster Sandwiches, Monster cookies, Monster Pizza's, Monster Cheese Balls and some Monster Toast!! (Didnt manage to get a pic of the monster Toast but it was just the same as the monster sandwich but on sliced bread and grilled!!)

The kids love themed foods, big thanks to Grace at Eats Amazing and her fabulous posts, she really inspires me! I have a long way to go until we are anywhere near as creative ass she is, but the kids enjoy it so thats all I'm fussed about!

Our Monster picnic lunch included a Monster Sandwich (with cheese face, tomato and BBQ dip eyes, ham mouth and cheese triangle teeth!) also had mini Mike Wasowzki (yes I know they are a bit rubbish!!!) and a Monster Cookie

This was our Monster Mousse, a shop bought choc mousse tipped out onto a plate with grape eyes and chocolate finger arms!

Our Monster Pizzas were a great hit! Can you guess who made each one? One was mine, One was D's and the other 2 belong to Evie and Jenson!

Cheese Ball monsters.

To make these you need: (this will make 4 monsters!)

3 large spoons of Garlic and Herb Philadelphia cheese
3 cherry tomatoes (chopped really finely, I used scissors)
A real good sprinkling of grated cheese (orange cheese works best)
Breadsticks (you need 8 pieces around 2/3 inches)
Cheese slices (preferably white cheese)
BBQ dip

Combine the philly, tomatoes and a sprinkle of the grated cheese, form 4 equal balls and then 'roll' or cover in the remaining grated cheese
Pop 2 pieces of bread stick in the top and add your cheese and dip eyes (cut out your eyes and pop on a drop of bbq dip, attatch to the breadstick using some philly)

Serve straight away (I served with some chicken and ham)

Enjoy!

Monster Ice

This was originally planned for yesterday (but I forgot to had to prep yesterday ready for today!), this was a serious hit! #toddlerapproved!

What you need:

Ice cube trays
Water (I know thats a given but you never know...)
Google Eyes
Pipe Cleaners
Straws
we also used string (I was planning on using wool but couldnt find any grrrrr!!!!)

For the prep I left the kids to it filling the ice cube trays with googley eyes., pipe cleaners, string and chopped up straws.

The invitaion to play was simply the ice cubes in the tray I was planning on adding some water as the activity 'got boring' but it didnt! they played happily for around 45 minutes until the majority of the ice had gone!

Excuse the half naked Evie, we started potty training today!

Jenson loved them, making the monsters 'talk' and roar!

What I loved most was that Elsie joined in too! She loved the experience and her big brother and big sister loved having her play with them! For once they didnt have to 'watch Elsie' and 'be careful' because she was right there with them!!

Then the tools came out! Jenson wanted to get the eyes out, I asked him how and he attempted to hit the ice on the side of the tray, I suggested he used his toy hammer so of he (and obviously his little follower Evie) went they came back with hammers and saws...

Tex Mex Veggie Chilli

Yum Yum Yum YUM!!

What you need:

Frylight
1 large red chilli (or more if you prefer, Deans not too keen on spice so I used less!) de-seeded and finely                              chopped
1 large onion, chopped
2 large garlic cloves
1 red pepper, chunks
1 orange pepper, chunks
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon paprika
500g Quorn mince
1 can Chopped tomatoes (pref. with chilli and garlic, or I used plain chopped and a grind (or 10!) of my                                                garlic and chilli grinder!!!
500g passata with herbs
1 can kindney beans (drained)
300ml cold water

Rice to serve

  • Spray pan with Frylight and add the chopped chillies, onion, garlic and peppers, fry for around 5 minutes or until softened
  • Sprinkle the cumin, cinnamon and parika and cook for 2 minutes strirring wel
  • Add the Quorn,  tomatoes, passata and kidney beans along with 300ml of cold water, bring to the boil then cover and simmer for 20minutes
  • Serve with rice

Enjoy!

Play Dough Monsters!!

I saw the idea of these here at creative connections for kids I made a couple of changes, straws instead of pipe cleaners and Mr Potato Head pieces added to the table.

The Invitation To Play looked like this:

Jensons 1st monster...

Evies monster had lots of eyes...

And her second monster had lots of arms...

D (I will call my step son D on the rare occasions he is featured, I wont show his face or his name as I dont believe its my place to do so!) created this monster, apparantly to get around he jumps using his tongue and walks on his hands. I think it looks like it could well be a Moshi monster!

Finally Jenson created this, I love that he got that bodys have different erm sections (I cant think of the word..talk about thick!!)

Recipe. Cowboy Pie (Slimming World Friendly)

I know this doesnt look that special BUT to quote Jenson 'nat deeyna vas so so so alicious mummy' and D (step-son) said that he '100 percent LOVED it and I should 100% make it again'...add to that fact that it is just 1 syn per sausage (if you use the ones I used) then you really can not go wrong!!

What you need:

4 large sweet potatoes (sliced)
frylight
1 large onion (sliced thin)
8 Tesco Healthy Choices/Living reduced fat Cumberland Sausage (1 syn each!!)
2 large carrots (sliced thinly)
250ml vegetable stock
1 Can Chopped Tomatoes
1 Can Baked Beans
Paprika

Slice your sweet potatoes thinly (think hotpot type potatoes) and place in a pan of boiled water until tender (shouldn't take long as they are so thick, I cooked for 10 min and this was to long, they went a bit mushy)
Whilst they are cooking in another pan cook your onions and garlic in the Frylight for around 4 minutes
Add the sausages and cook for another 5 minutes (take them out and chop into 3 or 4 pieces and put back in the pan.)
Take your sweet potatoes of the heat, drain and pop to the side (you may need to do this step earlier than this)
Add the carrots, stock and chopped tomatoes, bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes
Stir in the baked beans and heat through
Spoon the mixture into an oven proof dish and arrange your sweet potatoes over the top, sprinkle with some paprika and place under a hot grill for a few minutes

Enjoy!

Activity Time. Exploring Textures with Process Art

Yesterday we got out the paints, not a paint brush in sight as I set out pom poms and pegs, stickle bricks and our DIY Pattern Printers.

Recipe. Pea, Sausage and Tomato Pasta (Slimming World Friendly)

This recipe is Slimming World Friendly, just 1.5 syn per serving,  so long as you use Grilled reduced fat sausages oh and the kids love it to!

What you need:

6 reduced fat sausages
1 garlic clove, chopped and crushed
1 tin chopped tomatoes
75ml Vegetable stock
1 teaspoon sweetner
100g (approx 8) cherry tomatoes (halved)
250g pasta
200g frozen peas
Herbs, Salt and Pepper (to taste)
grated cheese (use your HEx A or syn it...the syn count above DOESNT count the cheese as synned)

Preheat the oven to 180c/350f/gas 4.
Put the sausages under the grill, and pasta on the hob (we can multi-task remember!!)
In a frying pan (sprayed with fry light) fry the garlic until soft, add the tinned tomatoes, the cherry tomatoes (halved), the stock and the sugar (also the herbs, salt and pepper if you wish) Bring to the boil and then let simmer for 10 minutes, if the sauce becomes to thick add more water as required.
Now everything should be about ready at the same time so drain your pasta and chop your sausages and add to the sauce mix.
Add the sauce mix to the pasta and also the frozen peas.
Place in an oven dish top with cheese  and pop in the oven until the cheese has melted!

Enjoy!!

This Week That Was...17th-23rd May 2014

This week seems to have zoomed by! What with a fabulous family weekend away and some gorgeous weather I haven't had much time to blog (my bad!)

At home!

Saturday:

Our weekend away 'selfie' (missing our Ellie as she didnt come) and a real grainy pic as the Ipad is rubbish is bad light! We stayed at Premier Inn Norwich Airport you can read our review right here!!

Sunday:

We visited the Dinosaur Adventure in Lenham, just a 15 min drive from the hotel we stayed in. (I will get round to blogging about our trip! Just bear with me whilst I catch up on all the Linkies I've missed!!!)

Monday:

We recieved our first parcel from Box Upon A Time Little Clothing Company, its not for everyone I realise but as I love baby clothes so much I couldnt resist taking my oppurtunity with their Easter discount code! Nearly £100 of DESIGNER clothes for just £25 YES PLEASE!!!

We also enjoyed a day at the park with a picnic, you can see the pics on my Instagram HERE!!

Tuesday:

Tuesday I (we) recieved our Graze Boxes, they have just started doing breakfast boxes and I really fancied trying them out! Unfortunatly the syns are high (between 10 and 16), so I cant enjoy them regularly on Slimming World BUT I can still have them as my ''treat!!'' and as I receive them every fortnight 2 breakfasts a week is fine by me! If you head over to my Instgram ( link above) Im giving away 2 £5 vouchers for new Graze users as well as codes for 1st, 5th and 10th boxes FREE (new users) and also some FREE breakfast boxes (for both new AND exisiting cusomers!) So pop over and follow me and either comment or DM me and ill get a code to you ASAP!

Wednesday:

You can read about our day at the beach here!

Unfortunatly Wednesday night my poor beauties were all poorly (Evie has been off all day I put it down to the 3..yes 3!..teeth she has coming through,  but now im not so sure! Sky high tempuratures and just that poorly look in their eyes :( This photo was taken at silly o clock as I brought them downstairs to save waking any one up!

Evie hates having her temp taken and having medicine but I found that if  'Doc Tuffys' (Doc McStuffins) wants to take her temperature then Evie was more than happy to comply (monkey!)

What are your tricks when little ones are poorly?

Thursday and Friday:

Thursday and Friday were a day of coffee (lots of coffee!) and catching up on blog posts as the beautys slept on the sofa! By 10.30 Thursday all 3 were running high temps and sleeping through their poorlyness, I hate when there is nothing you can do for them, especially when you dont actually know what is wrong with them. Thursday night we ended up in hospital with Jenson we could not get his temp below 39 and he came out in a rash so I made the 'mummy decision' to go A&E and im so glad I did, turns out he has a pretty bad Ear Infection and is on antibiotics until it clears.

On the Blog!

Ive been chosen to review a few new products this week, Im really excited about them, even Ellie is going to get a chance to Blog with me (she loves writing!!!) I can't wait to share them with you...there may even be a cheeky competition coming up!! Keep your eyes peeled, why not subscribe to get my updates to your email?

Inspiration!

We have booked ANOTHER weekend away! We are going to stay in the same hotel as this time but will be travelling to Banham Zoo this time for Evie's Birthday next month, I cant believe she is going to be 2 in less than 4 weeks! Which reminds me I STILL need to plan something for her family tea-party/get together! I think maybe our kids are spoilt at birthdays...they get a party and a day out, is that too much?

I have created a Fathers Day Pinterest Board...just need to add stuff to it now!!!

Ellie has next week of from school (Half Term) i'm planning on taking us to have our hair chopped and our nails painted for this weeks 'date'! Our Nails pinboard is here if you want to see whats got us all excited! Our Nails Pinterest Board

That's all so until next week, Enjoy your Half Term....what have you all got planned?
