Taco Pie.

Enjoy a Mexican feast...all in one pie!

What you need: 

pastry for the base (or just quit the hassle and buy a ready made! Our attempt was pretty much a bloody disaster!)
beef mince
Heinz veg chilli beanz (we were sent these to try, Thanks BzzAgent!)
Taco seasoning
sour cream
salsa (mild or hot depending on your taste) 
tortilla chips 
Cheese

Whilst your blind baking your pastry (if you choose to do it that way!) mix 1 jar of sour cream dip with 1/2 jar of salsa then pop to the side.


Next brown your mince and add the taco seasoning, then stir in the tin of Heinz Veg Chilli Beanz and 1/2 a jar of salsa, simmer for 5-10 minutes. (I love these Heinz for the fact that they took all the hard work out of making a chilli, and it tasted great too!!)

Once your pastry is ready pour in a layer of your meat mix...


...and cover with the sour cream mix, continue to layer (we got 2 layers of each, and that tin of beans went a long way! It really bulked the meat mixture out and we had spare left which I popped in a seperate bowl and served as a side chilli...good job too as the pie went down a storm and everyone wanted more, at least they were happy with just the chilli!!


Top with grated cheese and crumbled nachos.


Bake in the oven for 30 minutes (gas 6), serve with sundried tomato rice, or a side salad.

  3. I like the look of that! Great idea. I might make the base from polenta since for some unknown reason my kids don't like pastry (weird!!!). Thanks for the idea. I am going to pin it to my 'things to try' Pinterest board!
